oh, i haven’t been knitting much these days.
i can’t seem to find a project to be excited over.
so i’ve mostly been cross-stitching.
for my family and friends (one of which i have yet to mail out).
the designs are from a korean company and so are the keychains.
my mom’s back in seoul + thailand on a vacation so i’ll be ordering more designs for her to bring back.
i won’t mind doing more keychains but i’m sick of the designs already.
they were done on plastic aida that came with the keychain. front and back.
some of the keychains i finished:

the bright red DMC cotton floss bled. very much.
as you can see how it stained the plastic aida a faint pink.
i washed and scrubbed it but the stain was set.
i’m so glad i found this out when i did because i started a tulip design that used a lot of red and to refrain from a post-finish, pre-framing wash i’m taking extra precautions when using the scroll frame. i’ve been inserting a sheet of paper towel when rolling the canvas so the dye doesn’t transfer. it’s working quite well. the dye is transferring on the paper towel instead. crisis averted, if i do say so myself.

and another thing about scroll frames. LOVE IT!! i wish i tried it sooner. i would have if i knew just how convenient, easy to use and non-obtrusive it is. bye bye hoops. you and your stitch smooshing, fabric distorting evil self; i hope i never see you again.

My mom’s been cross stitching too! She made me a key chain, which i hang in my car now. =)
These are super cool! My mom is from Korea! WOOT! I love the little girl in the traditional dress. Very cute!
